Bible Black Series Review

 

As far as I remember Bible Black is sort of iconic big-name hentai that many praise and call great and so on. Personally, I saw few scenes here and there was not impressed. Thus, I did not watch it until now.

First thing that really stands out is quality of animation. Far from usual porn slop, this is generously animated with great attention to details, good frame rates and spectacular art. Clearly it was not made for cheap in some garage, like most other hentai.

Alas good animation is nearly all that is going for this show. Aside from that it has unlikable characters, bad plot and lack of cohesive fetish focus. These things do gradually improve with latter versions such as Gaiden and Only, but I would still call it lacking.

Now for a more detailed analysis. Characters. For whatever reason Bible Black has the least moe female cast in all porn. As a guy I find moe sexy and thus see it as clear shortcoming of the series. To find a single female who can be called cute helpless damsel you have to wait all the way to the Bible Black Only OVA (third installment).

Now the story. Story is redundant in porn, we are there to see women being spanked beaten, humiliated, abused and fucked. Plot distracts from the process. Here there is some sort of secret cult in school that abducts students, sometimes for blood sacrifices (not the fetish type, but Satanist like) and other times for forced sex and such, all completely random and makes no real sense. All that distracts from sexual action and make finding sex scenes using scroller tiresome, I might skip some accidently.

Finally lack of real BDSM focus. It's not a Maledom femsub only show, like Bondage Game, Love Es M or Maid in Heaven Super S, that alone reduces my opinion of that. However, is not even a cohesive BDSM only show, like say Pidgeon Blood. It's more of a wild swinger's orgy with unwilling participants and occasional BDSM elements. I am not a swinger, so I am not sure how it swims their tastes, but it's not for the dedicated BDSM enthusiasts.

Finally on individual series. The original Bible Black had all the problems I described above. 

Shin Bible Black (New Testament) initially begins even worse than the original, but from 3rd episode it goes much heavier into BDSM and makes a few BDSM style scenes with gear. 

Bible Black Gaiden has one nice tentacle rape scene that I can recommend watching.

Finally, Bible Black Only has best female character, Yukiko, and a well animated light bondage scene. It's by far best in the series.

Overall, it's a poor show, but, unlike most other shows that get worse as they progress, this one does show signs of improvement with each new version. Who knows if by some 7th or 10th testament it may become the best of its kind, or maybe not.
